As the popularity of electric vehicles continues to grow, the charging infrastructure will need to evolve to meet the demand. One aspect of this evolution will be the development of Charging Management Software (CMS). This software will be used by fleet operators, charging operators, and others to monitor and optimize electric vehicle charging operations.

To be effective, CMS will need to be reliable, scalable, and easy to connect to existing systems. It will interact with electric vehicle charging stations to manage user permission, invoicing, and charging rates. The CMS will also benefit operators of charging stations by keeping track of consumption and transactions, as well as providing a digital connection.

Advanced analytics, backed by artificial intelligence (AI), will be used to analyze user data and identify charging patterns and other aspects of user behavior based on different parameters such as geographic areas, time of day, and season. This will predict future demand for EV charging in different areas.

AI can also predict user charging behavior, allowing for personalized charging recommendations and incentives. It can optimize charging schedules and set dynamic pricing by analyzing real-time power system conditions using advanced algorithms.

Interoperability will also be an important factor in the future of charging management software. The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is an example of an application protocol that enables communication between a charging station and any network operation or back-end. The ISO 15118 standard provides a bi-directional digital communication standard based on the internet protocol and allows EV drivers to plug their vehicle into smart charging stations without further authorization. The combination of ISO 15118 and OCPP 2.0.1 enables Smart Charging functionality to plan and charge events accurately.

Emerging technologies like charging robots and autonomous charging on roads equipped with wireless charging technology will also play a role in the future of EV charging. Overall, the future of charging management software will be interoperable, intelligent, and user-centric.
