Tata EV Charging Station:

Like the Electric cars market, “Tata” dominates in the EV charger market. India has more than 12,000+ (12,146 to be precise) active EV chargers installed in India, and Tata Power alone has a 60% market share. There are many reasons behind Tata’s success in the EV market, but in this blog post, let’s stick to their “EZ Charger” and look closely at the charging units.

In this blog post, we are covering the Tata EZ charge, which is located in Dwarka. Unlike a single, standalone charger placed on sidewalks, Tata has built a dedicated charging station with multiple AC and DC chargers, proper parking, and enough room for maneuvering the car.

Dwarka Tata EV Charging Station review:

About the Charging Station:

The charging points are in the parking basement, so there’s plenty of space for manoeuvring the vehicle.

4 EV chargers were installed, 2 DC fast 30kW and 2 AC 7.3kW charging units with single gun setup. At this point, we reached the chargers. All 4 EV chargers are available and ready to use.

Solving payment gateway issues:

Tata EZ Charge 30kW charger review:

This is a wall-mounted charger with a single-gun CCS2 Type 2 connector. Looking at the casing, it is a small and compatible EV charger with no compromise on performance. On the front face, there’s an LED screen that shows the device information and a slight detail about using the charger; it says, Use RFID or Mobile app, which is understandable enough to communicate that the charging can begin using either RFID or Mobile APP. Along with that, it also shows time and data.

Below the LED screen, there’s an RFID column where you can tap the card and start charging.

The charging guns are easy to use, and in DC, there’s a type 2 DC gun, and in the AC one, there’s a type 2 AC gun. In the end, there’s a reset button to use if there’s an issue.

Tata EZ Charge 7.2kW charger review:

This is an AC charger with a Type 2 AC gun. This one has similar properties like being wall-mounted and compact with no compromise on performance. On the front face, there’s an LED screen that shows the device information and a slight detail about using the charger; it says, Use RFID or Mobile app, which is understandable enough to communicate that the charging can begin using either RFID or Mobile APP. Along with that, it shows charging data.

Below the LED screen, there’s an RFID column where you can just tap the RFID card and start charging.

The charging guns are easy to use, and in AC, there’s a type 2 AC gun; in the end, there’s a reset button to be used if there’s any issue.

Tata EZ Charge APP Review:

After opening the app, you’ll see a map listed with all the nearby charging stations, click on your desired charger’s location, and you’ll see a slider with the following details about the station:

  • Use the navigation button to reach the charging station.
  • Available connectors that show the types of connectors and their availability.
  • The app also shows the tariff for both AC and DC for DC – ₹180/15min for AC ₹38.85/min.
  • To start charging the app, you’ll need to top-up the wallet with a minimum ₹250

Important points to consider:

There are no QR codes to scan; the only way to initiate the charging is via the mobile app or the RFID card.

With 1C EV Charging, there are no such issues, and one can scan the QR -> make the payment and start the EV charging via any UPI application.

With the Tata EZ charge, one can even book the charging session in advance, which is a handy feature for planned trips.
